In 2013, WizKid established his label imprint known as Starboy Entertainment. During an interview with Yvonne Ekwere of Silverbird Television that he intended to sign new acts to the label. Some time later during an interview with Showtime Celebrity, he elaborated on the establishment of his label as a platform for up-coming artists to showcase their talent. In April 2013, Wizkid signed Maleek Berry and Legendury Beatz to his imprint. His work credits with the Berry include "Lagos to Soweto" and "The Matter". Following the debut of the music video for ''Caro'', he revealed the signing of a new artist named L.A.X in August 2013. Following his performance at the 17th edition of the Ghana Music Awards, he made the announcement of signing artists Efya, R2Bees, and Mr Eazi on 7 May 2016. Terri was signed into the label in 2018.
